Hello, When I turn the left front burner knob to LITE gas comes out but the igniter doesn't spark. This same igniter works fine when I light the left rear burner, so I think that the problem is somewhere in the circuitry. I have located an igniter switch (#716) here: 30" electric ignition replacement parts for General Electric JGBP26GEJ4 Gas range | AppliancePartsPros.comIs this the part I need to replace or is there more to it? The model number under the top was partly scrubbed off but the drawings appear to match what I have. There is a circuit diagram on the back dated 1987. I would be grateful for troubleshooting help. But starting at the vlave switch is a good start. Do you have a multi meter to test the switch circuitry ? and wiring to eliminate one or the other ? If not you could order and replace both parts. ?? Part number: AP2024213

OK, I have a multimeter. How best do I gain access to these parts? It looks like I at least have to remove the Control Panel #301. Do I also have to remove the Burner #705 and the Burner box #31?

Jim If you remove the valve knob, and can see the switch on the valve, You can test the switch, in alot of cases by putting the probes of your meter on the brass rivets holding the switch together and check for a closed circuit when you turn the knob to the lite or on position. Or you may have to lift the top or remove it and the control panel. If your switch checks out proper then you will have access to the spark module and wires, it should be located on the left rear side of the burner box base, when you lift/remove the cook top. :) :) :)
