Hi, I found the mainboard blown by M2 and cap. C30. I found the replacement board on this web site but before I put the new one in I would like to know what could cause this and what I should look for? Any help would be great and really great if its tonight so I can get it ordered.

Thanks Mike

Mike,

GE has this ongoing problem for number of years. Since they realized it first time this control board has been redesigned a few times with not much of success.

You can find much more information in one of our threads: http://forum.appliancepartspros...ack-ge-refrigerator.html

Thanks Gene, so are you saying that it could be just the board and not anything else? Buy reading in the forum it sounds like they have a problem with these things. Is it safe to say I can buy a board and install it and that it should be fine for awhile or so.
Thanks Mike

Mike,

What was the original problem before you start the troubleshooting?

Hi, Gene the problem was the main board brunt out at capacitor C2 and blew out the back. I dident notice anything wrong before that with the refrig. But I did notice that the ice dispensor would not work and the light would dim at the dispensor. But after I found the board burnt I thought that that could of been why the ice dispensor did'nt work. I have checked the evap. fan motor for resistance across the winding and to ground. Also checked fan blade for problems, all checked good. The compressor wiring and cap are in good shape, no swelling at the cap or leakage. I went ahead and ordered the main board today. If you have any suggestions as to what else I can check or do before I install it that would be great

Thanks for your time
Mike

HI Mike,

I believe the new main control board should solve the problem with the dispenser. Keep us posted.
