I have a kenmore gas dryer that lately takes a little longer to dry clothes and we get a strong gas smell from the dryer that gets so bad it actually lingers in the clothes so bad we can't wear them. i have a lot of good airflow, and i can see the ignitor start up and the flame is 90% blue with tinges of orange. What gives?

Andy, Sounds like the gas valve is leaking. It is very dangerous. Stop to use the dryer immediately until it's fixed or replaced. The correction is to replace the gas valve assembly. - The gas valve assembly Part number: AP3094298

thanks for the info- is there any chance it could just be the ignitor? for the price of the gas valve, its not very cost effiecient to fix it, i'd probably be better off to just replace the dryer.

Andy,
I do understand the way you are thinking but I can not imagine how igniter can cause gas leak.
