I'm troubleshooting the problem of warm fridge and frosting in freezer. How do I check continuity on the bimetal (thermostat); the wires are on the 5-wire harness and very hard to separate. I have already checked the defrost timer and evaporator motor, both are good. anyone please!

You may need to cut the tape or zip tie to spread the wires better and retape them later. There should be 2 wires on the bi-metal, the easiest way is to clip those wires, leaving long enought to reattach. I didn't find your exact model breakdown, I found this one tough GD5SHGXLB01.
does you model have a timer or an adaptive defrost timer? Nat

does you model have a timer or an adaptive defrost timer? Nat Thanks! yes bimetal has two wires that go into 5-wire harness and I'm afraid to yank'em out. I gues I'll cut and check continuity. appliance pro does not even show a bimetal on my model in their breakdown diagram.
