I received this part for my ice maker and I dont understand how to connect the quick-connect. It says to cut off the nut on the water line but then what. How do I connect the water line from the ice maker to the valve?

How do I connect the water line from the ice maker to the valve? Marcia, Make sure the end of the tube is cut straight, and has no burrs or shavings on the end. Press down or in on the gray plastic ring around the tube opening and insert the tube all the way in until it stops(1/2 inch or more). Release the gray ring and tug outward on the tube,to insure that it is seated and locked in place. Open water supply and check for leaks. Good Luck, :) :) :)

Marcia, No, the gray ring is not on the tubing, The gray ring is part of the new fill valve, it is located on the opening for the tubing on the new fill valve. Could you please send or attach the model number of your machine , and the part number you recieved, So we can better direct you and varify you orderred and recieved the correct part number. Thanks,

Thanks The part that I took off the refridge is 2182104 and the end I am asking about had male threads. The part I have says it is the replacement part but it doesn't have threads it is hard plastic. The part number I have is 2315576. Does that help? Also, on the tube, I have not cut off the female nut, am I supposed to? I dont' want to cut it off to find out that I shouldn't have Thanks

There will not be any male threads on the tubing inlets on the new valve. They are now "Quick Connect , John Guess" fittings , that lock and seal the tubing into the inlet opening when you install the tube. Yes, you should cut the tubing off, just behind the plastic male nut, As I mentioned before, cut it straight(angles will not allow the tube to seat and seal properly) clean the end of the tube(no burrs or shavings) and insert the tube into the matching connector on the new valve as deep as possible, and tug on the tube, to insure it is seated and locked in place. :) :) :) PS You new valve should look similar to this : I mis spoke in my previous reply, I said "gray ring" On this particular picture , the rings are Blue and Yellow. I hope this is more helpfull.
