Again, the freezer is cooling, not to its potential but the fridge is warming up. The fridge is 4 years old-why would we be having problems NOW?? My husband is looking at the manual & diagrams but can't find a defrost timer or anything. There is some ice build up on the back of the freezer wall but not a lot. What can we do to fix this?

Can you double check your model number. Nat

Hi Nat!-I got the model # off the inside panel of the fridge. Where else do I look?

I'm going to assume, that it is a 106.74252400, which would make it a Whirlpool product. If this is the case you have an adaptive defrost control under the control panel in the frig portion, a defrost thermostat(Bi-metal) behind the rear panel in the freezer. If you have an ohm meter check the bi-metal and if memory serves you can push the door switch 4 times to try to start defrost. The bi-metal is about $15 and the Adap. Def timer is about $25. Once you've figured out which part is bad, while the rear panel in the freezer is off, use a hair dryer to defrost the ice and you should be down to normal temps for a while at least. Nat

real quick=-door switch; is that what you hit to turn off the light? I pushed it in 4 times; the fridge is making its humming noise & the freezer seems to be working no worse than before (about 2/3). I'm saying a prayer that this will do the trick!
