no, there doesn't seem to be any ice buildup-just a thin layer on the back panel of the freezer. My husband didn't take off the back of the fridge to look at the coils or anything. He did uncover the thermostat assembly but didn't disconnect anything. The icemaker sounds like it wants to work but no ice. I'll check back with you tomorrow a.m. if you're there, before I go to work & let you know if anything has changed.

Found the problem! The fan motor died so no cool air going down to the fridge. We called a local repairman who came out & replaced it with one he had on his truck-he's ordering a new one & will install it once it comes in. My husband said it took him 15 minutes to find the problem, find a fan & replace it! YAY!!! I did NOT want to buy a new fridge! Thanks for your help! Hopefully I won't have to come back but if I have any more appliance probs, I know where to come!
