I have an Amana frig about 12 yrs old; water to dispenser ok; ice maker makes ice; but the water continues to drip from file pipe, then freezes into glacier.:confused:

Your water valve is probably not shutting off all the way, replace your valve and you should be ok

I have completely taken out ice maker. Can I test the water valve this way, or did I have to have ice maker installed?:confused:

The easiest way to test the valve is remove the supply line which runs up the back of the unit, place the end of the tub in a cup and see if it gets water in it.
