hope this does not complicate matters but since he can not use the moisture feature, he used the timer. He set it for 50 minutes and the clothes dryed nicely but the timer never moved. do you think that it may be two unrelated problems?

Give me your address and I will mail it to you in a regular envelope. If it works send me something to the return address if you feel like it. I am not in this to make any money but I just happen to have one of these parts and the least you can do is see if that really fixs the problem. Email me: sublimemasterjw@rocketmail.com

I would say it may not be the moisture sensing board but it may be timer motor itself. Power is not given to motor unless the moisture sensing board send that power in the auto cycle but the timer should move in the timed dry mode. You may want to check the timer motor for continuity.

I checked the timer, there are a lot of wires to it, I can check for a schematic. Also can the motor be purchased separately or is it all one unit?

Unfortunately you cannot buy just the timer motor anymore from regular outlets like the good old days. But you can have your timer sent off and rebuilt cheaper than getting a new one. Go here: MTS - Main and see if you can get that puppy.
