Greetings,

We have a Magic Chef model 31211waw stove we'd like to convert from natural gas to propane, the plan is to use this stove at our cabin where there is no electricity. Is it possible to convert this appliance to work w/o the use of electricity and if so, what part would we need? We appreciate any assistance you could offer, thank you!

I am doing the same thing for use in my hunting camp. The problem is that the oven will not stay lit with out the glow plug on and it it run by electicity. I have made it work by using a battery convertor, but it needs more than just a 12 volt battery so I hook it to the truck battery and leave it running for baking etc. The burners will work with out the battery but have to be lit by matches or lighter. Also it needs the conversion kit with the LP orfices. The oven conversion is done by just turning the orfice over on some models.

Brian,

I would not reccomend you attempt to operate this range without electricity.

In fact, there is no conversion kit to make this unit operate without electricity.

You could convert to LP gas, and use matches to ignite the top burners,

But the oven would not work, and it could be a little dangerous if the user was not paying attention or aware of the situation.

I would reccomend you donate the range to a charitable organization, or see if a dealer would take it as a trade in on a unit that would work without electricity(usually a "bare bones" unit).

Good Luck
:) :) :)
