Did you elevate the dishwasher drain hose to prevent garbage from draining into the dishwasher??

When you replaced the garbage disposal, did you knock out the plug inside the garbage disposal where the rubber hose connects to the air gap? If not, your water will not drain properly.

Replace the air gap. Always a good idea when changing garbage disposals. They're cheap enough and they often get clogged with debris from the garbage disposal. Also, change the hose from the garbage disposal to the air gap.

This should provide the needed aeration for the water to flow properly, thus preventing mildew.
