I have an Amana oven that will not heat. I had to replace the oven sensor several years ago so I thought that could be the problem. Seemed like a cheap fix so I replaced the sensor but I still can't get the oven to start heating. Any ideas? I'm wondering if I have a bad heating element?

Take a look at your ignitor. If it is so bright you cannot look at it very long then it is probabaly ok. If it is sort of a mellow orange color then it is weak and not allowing the safety valve to open. Tapping on the valve makes it come on and that is a sure sign the ignitor is shot. Just because it comes on does not mean it is good. It has to draws 3.5 amps to open that valve.a water valve double.jpg
