I have an Amana oven that will not heat. I had to replace the oven sensor several years ago so I thought that could be the problem. Seemed like a cheap fix so I replaced the sensor but I still can't get the oven to start heating. Any ideas? I'm wondering if I have a bad heating element?

Take a look at your ignitor. If it is so bright you cannot look at it very long then it is probabaly ok. If it is sort of a mellow orange color then it is weak and not allowing the safety valve to open. Tapping on the valve makes it come on and that is a sure sign the ignitor is shot. Just because it comes on does not mean it is good. It has to draws 3.5 amps to open that valve. SublimeMasterJW attached the following image(s):
