My GE garbage disposal (GFC520F) is leaking from the gasket between the sink and the mounting ring. However, I have been unable to disconnect/remove the disposal from under the sink. Regardless of how much pressure I apply the disposal will not turn to release itself from the mounting ring it is locked to. Is there a trick to this? What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Thanks for the instruction manual. I actually have the original manual and instructions, and have read them. My problem is related to the disposal unit not coming free from the metal locking ring. When I attempt to turn the disposal the quarter turn counter clockwise the whole unit (disposal, mounting ring together) just turns. I cant seem to get the disposal to turn independently from the metal mounting ring. Is there a trick to this?
Thanks again

My disposal is just turning freely from the mounting ring, how can I make that quarter turn it is stuck?
