Our whirlpool dishwasher will not operate when you push the normal or heavy key pad buttons. The rinse, quick wash, china, pots and pans buttons work(but no led lightup). No lights come on over the sanirinse, power scour, air dry or hour delay when we push them. Push and hold air dry button 5 sec and controll lock works.
Which do you think is bad the keypad or control unit? How can I check to test to see which one?

Most likely the problem is a bad key pad. You can find some troubleshooting instructions in the tech sheets.

Thanks, What are the precise steps to check the keypad , or is there any way to do so. The tech sheets don't mention the keypad check. I tried the diagnostic check but the button needed to push won't activate that.

Sorry for the delay. Unfortunately this is a very common situation. You can take a chance and replace the key pad.
