Our dishwasher had been running fine but when we tried to run it after filling it with dishes this last time it would not start. It has power because the indicator lights on the selection buttons turn on when we push a run selection. I've tried all of the different selections with no results and also made sure the door was closed and latched securley. Any suggestions?

You said the lights are on, when you press the cancel button does it drain? Start a cycle and let it go for at least two minuets. Does it start running. If so, your float switch (the little mushroom looking thing inside the tub) may be stuck in the up position preventing the water valve from turning on. If you don't get a drain operation and the pump never starts, you are probably looking at a control assembly.

Brian,
Yes the lihgts are on but absoultely nothig happens when we push the selected start button, not even a sound like a solenoid, it's as if the control buttons are not connected to the dishwasher. Could it possibly be the door switch malfunctioning?

it could be door latch . it could be float problem .it could be water valve ,check to see if your getting 110 volts to water valve when machine is turned on .sometimes caked on detergent get s into float cup. float cup stem may not be seated on switch lever

Since my last e-mail I've checked a few more things. I by passed the door swithch w/ jumpers with no change in results, therefore, I determined that the door switch is not yhr problem. I checked the float switch from both above & below and seems to be working freely. I don't think I'm getting power to the water supply solenoid. There is a solid brown wire and a brown wire w/ a white stripe off each side of the solenoid switch. I don't detect power off either when the dishwasher is in the run mode. Any suggestions?

The last things to check would be to verify the fill valve is good and it has power going to it. Take off one of the wires to the valve and measure the resistance between the two terminals. It should be around 700 ohms. If it measures open, replace the valve. Plug your meter leads into the two brown wire connectors and start a cycle. You should read 110vac between the two leads. If you are not getting voltage, then your control board is bad.

check to see if your getting 110 volts to float switch . if not unless you have a broken or burned wire to float switch ,you would probably have to reveal wiring in door to control board ,check line +neutral for break or burn. if not problem is board like Gene said ,seasons greetings

Per the schematic under the dishwasher, check for power to the control panel and check the thermal fuse also.
