I am try find the location of the Defrost timer and thermostat on my fridge. I looked at the schematics, i think the timer is on the bottom right hand side behind the kick plate. But i dont know how to take out. is this really the right area.
Also, where can i find the defrost thermostat?

Part 14 diagram 7 is your defrost thermostat. It's inline with your heater.Replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL GB2SHKXKQ00 | AppliancePartsPros.com

Your timer is accessed from the front behind the kick panel which is at the floor you remove it by removing the screws holding it to a bracket.

Hi Woodchuckie,

I removed some of the screw. If i remove all will the black box come out with the timer?

And for the defrost thermostat, i cant tell on the diagram where i would access. will i do it from the back or from the refrigerator in the front. NOt sure by looking at the diagram.

I can't tell by the picture for sure. It looks like two screws holding in unless it just clamps in.

The defrost thermostat, heater and evaporator are in the freezer behind a panel on the back.
