The defrost thermostat prevents the heater from overheating the freezer by breaking the circuit when the temp on the evaporator coils reach 32 degrees. Yours must be defective.

Thanks. Where is the defrost thermostat located? Do you have a part number? Thanks.

It's part 35 on diagram 12. It's clamped to the evaporator behind the back panel inside the freezer. Replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL KSRU25FKBT03 | AppliancePartsPros.com
