I've never disassembled a washer before. (The former owner was kind enough to leave manuals for things like ceiling fans and smoke detectors, but not for the appliances and I haven't been able to find a manual online for it.) how difficult is it to take it out and replace it?

Pull the top off the agitator and the plastic cover inside and remove the 7/16 bolt, then just pull off the agitator. Remove the outer panel, pump and motor, then remove the tree 1/2 inch tranny bolts and pull the tranny out.
