Side by side unit is 2.5 years old. Noise heard from outside when door closed but louder when door is open. The wind/sound of rushing air surges from time to time and comes from inside the top rear of the freezer. Temp in frig and freezer ok and no other problems noted except the noise. Is this a noisy evap fan? If so, how do you get to it? By removing the ice maker? I can fix about anything with a repair manual but cannot locate one. Thank you.

Your fridg has the troublesome mother board in the back. It will at times, dump variable frequencies to the evaporator motor. Only solution is a new mother board. Also, good idea to install a 1000 joule surge protector on the outlet.

I have the GSH25JSRF SS model (ignore what I wrote in the subject line. it's the wrong model number). I experience the same thing. Would replacing the motherboard fix mine too? Where can I find a new motherboard if it's not under warranty and if there's no recourse via class action?

Thanks everyone!

If there is exactly the same problem then the correction should be the same too. In regards of the manufacturer warranty you have to talk to GE people.

- The part number for the main control board (#801 on the diagram) is AP4297272

Here are the breakdown diagrams and Replacement parts for GE GSH25JSRFSS | AppliancePartsPros.com

Yes, the motherboard contains the auger motor driver. Replacing the board should fix this problem.
