The refrigerator and freezer will work fine for a day or so nad then cool poorly. The compressor runs continually when it cools poorly. If I unplug it and plug it back in a few seconds later it will run fine for a while. I checked the compressor terminals C S (start windings) get 4.3 Ohms. Checked compressor terminal C M (run Windings) get 3.6 Ohms. Cheched all terminal to ground no continuity. Checked terminal C M immediatly after poor cooling and get continuity. Checked PTC M S terminal get 5.3 Ohms when cool. Jumped termials 3 and 4 on thermostat to rule out thermostat still happens besides when it cools poorly the compressor is running so thermostat is OK. Checked run compacitor get 14.6uF which is within specs of 15uF +- 5%. Could a defective PTC be running the compressor using the start windings all the time without causing the compressors thermal break to open? Or is it the compressor has an internal mechanical problem that lets it work sometimes?

Check the thermostat to make sure it hasn’t been turned way down by mistake.
Vacuum the coils under or behind the fridge. Clogged coils can cause poor cooling.
Check to make sure nothing is stuck in the condenser fan and that it spins freely (models with coils on the back won’t have a fan). To do this, unplug the fridge and pull it out. Clean the fan blades and spin the fan by hand to see if it’s stuck. Plug in the fridge and make sure the fan runs when the compressor is running.
