Maytag 213054 centering springs - no longer available-suitable substitute?

Hi I have a Maytag LA612 that has served me well. It has developed the problem of running out of balance on the spin cycle, to the point of walking across the floor and banging loudly. Re-leveling and distributing the wet clothes evenly in the tub has had minimal effect.
Based on my internet research, it seems the recommended fix is replacing the centering springs. I figured it was worth a try, but it turns out the springs are no longer available (from any vendor I could find anyway), and the part number hasn't been superseded by another part number.
The listed Maytag part number is 213054. Does anyone know of a suitable replacement part number? Any help appreciated. Thank you!

Thanks for the info...I will take a look. I did see info during my research on what to look for (powdery material under the tub presumably from the pads wearing). To get the full look-see I assume I will need to disassemble/remove tub.

I would think that if its laying on its back like they show. You could take the springs off and slide everything up a couple of inches to look underneath.
