Make sure the ice maker fill tube (coming into the ice maker) is not blocked and/or frozen.

Locate the water inlet valve behind the cover on the back of the fresh food compartment. Swap the wires between the water valve solenoids. Close the doors and depress the water dispenser for a few seconds. Check for water inside the ice maker and post the results.

I did exactly as you said and used the water dispenser button to force the valve to release water into the ice maker. It worked so the valve is not the issue. When I put water into the icemaker it actually dispensed ice into the ice bin. It seems the problem is that the icemaker is not calling to be filled with water. Based on this information, what part should I order for replacement? Thank you!!

It could be the ice maker itself. If you need the correct part number, post the complete model number of the refrigerator.
