our maytag washer started making a weird noise during the agitate cycle,almost like a bad gear sound.by opening the lid fast the agitater is just spinning and not agitating.i removed the agitator and made sure all the little nylon dogs were in place put it back together but still no joy.4 years ago I replaced the clutch and motor coupler but this time I'm thinking the transmission is defective.i hope I'm wrong.
