Have you tried starting the dryer with the door open?

Perhaps you have the wires switched.

Are you using this part?

How many wires go to the switch?

If you have a light inside there should be three. One is common, one goes to the light (NC), and one goes to the motor(NO).

Do you have a wiring diagram?

I know I'm really tired, but what does this even mean? Its not even a real sentence.

You say your dryer starts if you short the wires together.

That leaves three possibilities.

(A) the switch is bad.

(B) The wires are on the wrong terminals of the switch.

(C) The switch is not being depressed for some reason.

I'm done. No more.
