After renters left and electricity was turned off. We have come up to work on the home several times and it ran fine. Mine you we turned off all electricity everytime we left. The freezer started making a loud squealing noise off and on and eventually it stopped freezing but the fridge worked. Now neither work.

Can someone tell me if it is lost cause or is there something I can do?

I faced the same problem last year, for it at first you may check the presence of voltage, if there is no problem you should check the compressor and fan, if there is no problem you should contact with freezer company. They will make a perfect solution to you.
