The compressor was really hot....only able to touch it not hold it. I looked in their stupid incomplete manual ...it didn't say much for information. After the freezer froze up again I shut it off...for about 5 hours. Everything cooled down nicely. Then I turned it on to only 2 out of 7 coldness. It is freezing nicely....sides not too hot...but compressor is hot as hell again. I'm currently in a tropical climate...so it's always warm/hot weather wise. It does take a beating you might say. I don't think it has a fan to cool the compressor like a refrigerator does. I have a maytag/amana refrigerator. Also my freezer is a manual defrost...my hand...meaning shut it off so maybe that's why no fan. Is that right? I just hope the compressor does not burn up. It's full of food and my only freezer. What are your thoughts on the ....no fan...and a hot compressor? I purchased the manual defrost as I thought and was told it would last longer than the frost free. I purchased them in the US. I placed a fan to cool the compressor as I have seen people do that for commercial freezers to cool them down in this hot tropical climate. It seems to helps some. Make sure there is at least four inches between the coils on the back of the fridge and the wall. A fan couldn't hurt. Make sure you keep it defrosted. Even a 1/4 inch of ice on the freeze plates inside the freezer works like insulation and makes the refrig work harder.

Compressor is the main thing of any refrigeretor. If compressor fan is not working properly then understand that my fridge is going o damage. Compressor helps to adjust my freezer with outside atmospher. Want to much information about compressor visit our site.

The fan in the back of a frig is not really to cool the compressor. It does to some degree, but the purpose is actually to cool the condenser coils. In the freezer you have, the condenser coils are actually in the sides of the unit and thus no fan is required. That is also why the sides got very hot when it was cooling from room temp. As far as the climate goes, all units are designed to be installed in a conditioned space of around 72 degrees. Anything more or less than that will affect the units performance. A fan to help dissipate the heat from the sides and compressor couldn't hurt anything if it's surrounding atmosphere is not conditioned. That being said, it sounds like it is working fine otherwise.
