I just bought a belt to replace my broken one on a maytag neptune mde9700ayw, after taking everything apart I saw that my idler pulley roller wheel would not spin freely and I even had trouble spinning it by hand, also half of it has a hole in it and the other does not. I'm wondering if this is normal for it to have a hole? I have a picture attached of what the roller looks like. Thanks in advance.

change the pulley but make sure the shaft is not worn in any way. clean and lubricate and you should be ok. Have seen this several times.
