This is the third time the microwave has broken. There is a loud buzzing noise when it is on "microwave" or "combined." There is normal fan noise on "convection." The last time the G.E. repairman replaced the magnetron and something else. I do not want to pay repairman prices if it is something I can fix myself. I also wonder if it is worth fixing a 15 year old machine. The problem is that we had a special cabinet made for it when we redid the kitchen 15 years ago and of course none of the new machines fit in the old cabinet. I would have to do some cabinet work to get a new machine to look built in.

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Very likely the problem is a bad magnetron (#1 on the diagram) again or a bad high voltage diode (#21).

Microwave is one of most dangerous appliance to work on and you have to be very careful. Discharge the high voltage capacitor first and then check the parts. You can find the instructions in one of our previous posts: http://forum.appliancepartspros...19868-diode-testing.html. Carefully read them before you proceed with the troubleshooting.
