My Kitchen Aid refrigerator is not working properly. The refrigerator will not cool although the freezer works fine. I have to shut the system down for over 24 hours and restart so that the refrigerator will work properly. I think I might need a defrost thermostat or defrost heater so that the system will defrost properly.

Please let me know if I need to check other items before I purchase parts.

Thanks

Here are your parts
Parts for KitchenAid KSSC48QMS02 Refrigerator - AppliancePartsPros.com

See the attachments for some tech info.

I am assuming that the freezer is OK re: it is in the 0 to 5 degree F range.

Try the diagnostics to see if the baffle door operates.

Also here is a service manual which may be useful to you

Hi Denman:

I am not able to download the manual. The site tells me to wait one minute before downloading.

Is this common

Hi Denman:

Everything seem to work well put the defroster. Not sure if it's the heating unit or the thermistor

Any advice

Hi Denman:

The thermistor seem fine. The evaporator coils are all full of ice. Can it be the heater that is not working. It seems that once I defrost all the coils, the system works fine. About 3 to 4 month later the freezer temp goes up and the refrig goes down. I think the coils are preventing the air flow to the refrig.

I think so. I purchased the bimetal part. Hopefully that will help the system.
