I am having the exact same problem with KitchenAid refrigerator KBRA20EMSS. Please let me know if there is a Relay/Overload kit for this model.
Thanks!

I have similar problem as some of the posters above. I have a Hotpoint refrigerator, model number HTS22GBMARCC. I few days ago my freezer lost cooling and meats starting to thaw.
This led me to observe some components such as the compressor, start relay and capacitor. I noticed that compressor has a low humming sound and vibration. But, I also heard the Buzzing sound, went from low to high for about 6 to 8 seconds and then stopped. This buzzing sounds repeat after about a few minutes. I called up local parts store and the guy gave me a start relay after told him the story. When I got home and installed it, plugged in the power cord, the refrigerator started to operate. I heard the clicking sound from around the compressor and then heard the buzzing sound again (the compressor still also has a low humming sound and vibration). I left the refrigerator on for half a day and no cooling.
I have no knowledge about how the refrigerator works, so I googled. I tested the compressor terminals in ohms: Common to Run (4.1), Common to Start (8.3) and Start to Run (11.9). I also tested grounding between those terminal to the bare metal of compressor and found no continuity between them. I also tested the run capacitor in ohm, the number run from low number to high number and then display infinity. I used a digital multimeter to test it because it is what I have. Also and finally, I cleaned the condenser coil. I then put everything back the way they were, turned on the refrigerator. Freezer stills not getting cold.
Please help and advise me of what I need to do to try to get my refrigerator working again if possible. Thank you very much.

Hi,
I have a Whirlpool model ED22PQXFW00 with a compressor that won't start. Replaced the start relay, now the compressor won't start AND will overheat.
I'm think the overload may be bad and thinking about just purchasing your AP3873993 kit and doing it over the right way. Hoping that'll fix the problem and my compressor isn't bad.
However, I noticed that I don't have a capacitor on this model. Just got me curious ...is there an advantage to having one?
Thanks.

I have a KitchenAid KSCS25INSS00. Is there a similar part for this model? My unit just suddenly stopped working in that I could hear the unit trying to click on and get going but just doesn't. It beeps twice every few seconds and just continuously warms up. I've replaced the control board and inverter box and it sill won't work (though it worked for about 6 hours with the new inverter box). I've been told I need a new compressor, but I'm not sold on that yet.

Sorry, your model uses an inverter board. This takes the place of the relay overload. If it is new, and the compressor clicks off, you will need to replace the compressor on the unit. This requires an HVAC tech to do the repair due to being a sealed system repair, Thanks. Part number: AP5801669

Thanks. I did already replace the inverter box and though the unit worked for a number of hours, it eventually went back to beeping and not cooling.

I have a Frigidaire refrigerator FRS26R4CB4 with a similar cooling problem. The frig will start warming so I will tap the thermostat panel in the refrigerator and it will start cooling again. What is this?
