Hello, When washer hits spin cycle, it does not spin and there is a loud grinding noise. Please advise.

Hello, Thanks for getting back to me. Yes the washer agitates and drains. Wife was doing a load of wash last night, all was fine until final spin from final rinse. Loud grinding noise started during the end of the spin cycle. Turned off washer opened lid, all water was out of the tub, clothes were almost spun out complete. I tried to restart on the spin cycle, no movement from the tub, just the loud grinding noise. I'm thinking the direct drive motor coupling also. Wanted an opinion from an expert with some experience. Do you still think its the motor coupler? Please advise.

It's a good possibility that it's the coupler but it could be other things. I would remove the cabinet, bypass the lid switch and run the machine in spin so you can observe things. You need to check to see if the clutch hub is spinning. If it is not, then it's either the motor coupler or the transmission. If the clutch hub is spinning, it could be some other things. Report back about the clutch hub and we will go from there. I provided a link below on how to remove the cabinet and bypass the lid switch. Eric,
Thank you again for your help & guidence. I will do the testing per your instruction and get back to you with what I find. However, I'm at work now until 4:00 so I will not be able to get back to you until this evening, hopefully you will still be around. I ordered the direct drive coupler kit this afternoon, should receive Friday afternoon, hopefully thats the problem.

Skipped out of work early, couldn't wait to get home and tear into the washer. I'm thinking the direct drive motor coupler is the problem because the old one fell out in pieces when I pulled the motor out, LOL. New parts should be here Friday. Make sure that when you install the two coupler halves, that you use a socket and hammer to tap them on until the hub is flush with the motor shaft and transmission shaft. Failure to do this will result in too much lateral pressure on the motor shaft when you reinstall the motor. This will lead to motor bearing failure fairly quickly. Eric
