Our washer is leaking during the drain cycle. It appears to be leaking from the bottom of the tub. Could this be O-rings? My question is whether it is cost effective to consider repair.

The way to be certain is to remove the cabinet and jumper the lid switch and operate the machine. This way you should be able to determine where the leak is coming from. Many times it will be at the pump, which is an easy repair. Since it is not leaking during basic operations this suggest the pump or hoses.
If it is from the center of the tub it is likely a seal and now you have to worry if water got into the transmission.
You can repair the seal, a lot more work but these are good basic models and well worth keeping.
