I have a Maytag Performa model # PAVT444AWW.
Several months ago while washing during a wash cycle using cold water it overflowed and flooded the wash room. I turned off the cold water and just used hot water and it worked. Now it started leaking during the wash cycle again. I took off the back cover, turned the washer on again and it immediately started leaking from the small filler hose that leeds to the level switch on the far left upper side of the machine as you are facing the front of it. I took the top apart and disconnected the small white hose, checked it for holes by blowing into it while holding my finger over the other end and the were no holes in the hose. I felt under the level switch and it was wet under it. I tried to remove the component but I could not remove the selector knob, I was afraid that I was going to break it, I went online and ordered the part (AP4024470) I hope that is the problem?
any advise would help, I am ok with my hands and tools but I am by no means an appliance tech! I am retired and have very limited money so I really cant afford a repairman or to by a new machine. Does this sound like the part I ordered will fix the problem? How do I remove the knob in order to replace the componet with out damaging the knob?

It is possible your level switch is the problem, and since you have it on order go ahead and replace it. This service manual will show you how.

A likely suspect is the water valve assembly, and a lesser probability is the timer. Note: You can return the parts if they do not fix things if you meet the returns policy requirements.
