Neptune Washer: Water won't shut off after rinse cycle

Washer goes through all cycles properly EXCEPT the water never shuts off following the rinse cycle. It keeps running even after the machine if off and power turned off. If we stop it after rinse cycle, turn off the water to the machine and then turn it back on a spin only cycle, it will spin and drain properly. The we turn the water back on and repeat the process for the next load. What is the problem?

Sounds like the valve assembly may be sticking in the open position. Try changing it out and see if that doesn't fix things.

We are considering that but it seems unlikely in that the water does come on and off properly during the wash cycles - so we are thinking its a problem with "the brain" of the washer. Where is the computer chip or sensor that controls that? It's only the cold water.

Okay, I didn't understand that, thought you were using hot water in the wash cycle and the cold water happened. But if water is coming in after power has been cut to the machine then the valve is stuck in the open position, so it is somewhat of a mystery as to why it would work on the wash cycle.
Anyway I would start with the valve assembly as it is a less expensive part, and if that does not fix things try changing out the main control unit. Clicking on your model number will take you to an exploded view of your machine to find the part you need. And if you buy from this site and the part does not fix things you can return it.
