Hi, Help please! It looks like my freezer stopped working over the weekend. All of these are checked and seems to be working fine: the compressor is warm and vibrating, the two fans are running (one next to the compressor and one in the freezer). I took out the back panel of the freezer and i don't see frost on the evaporator (see picture) but one section was frozen with ice. Does this mean there's a leak in the evaporator? Is there a fix for this or time for a new fridge? Thanks. Regards, Minh minhly82 attached the following image(s):

Does this mean there's a leak in the evaporator? Could be or the compressor could be toast. Does not really matter as both are expensive repairs.

Thank you for your reply. I looked in the back of the fridge and the compressor seems to be running (warm and vibrating). Do you think it's definitely not other components failure (thermostats or capacitor)? I just want to make sure it's not some cheap fix before throwing it out. Thanks again.

Yes I am sure.
The sealed system is a closed loop so if the compressor is running the evaporator coils should get cold. |
