Unit simply stopped working one day, and does not respond all. It is as if the GFI or circuit breaker tripped, but they did not.

Here are your parts Parts for GE SMR04DASACS Refrigerator - AppliancePartsPros.comHave you checked the power at the wall receptacle? If not I would do that. Next check for the 120 volts at the machine end on the power cord. If OK Unplug the unit and the two wires at the control thermostat. Check across the thermostat with a meter, should be 0 ohms. OR Short the two wires together. You may have to tape them so they do not short to anything else. Now plug the unit in to see what happens. If it starts up you need a new control thermostat. |

Thank you so much. I shorted the control switch wires, as suggested, and it worked. Is this a part from you, or or is it easily sourced at the local GE or hardware store? The power to the original switch (white wire) is hard wired. Is this a job for a simple connector?

I cannot say.
Would be best to talk to a parts representative, they have more info and expertise than I have. |
