Water inlet shoot/tube freezing with ice on Maytag refrigerator

I have an issue with water freezing from the back of the Maytag refrigerator/freezer to the ice maker in that water shoot/tube. I would simply pull the tube out and clear the ice from it and reinstall. It would happen only once in a while, but now it has become a weekly nuisance. Sometimes I would have to pull out the ice maker and clear the ice buildup too in the water entry part.
Do I need to replace my whole ice maker, water inlet valve or something else?

Here are your parts Parts for Maytag MZD2665HEW Refrigerator - AppliancePartsPros.comFirst I would check the freezer temperature perhaps it is just too cold. It should be between 0 and 5 degrees F. Next most likely culprit is the water valve. It could be that it is not closing properly so after it is supposed to close you get a couple extra drops. These freeze in the tube and eventually build up till the tube plugs. |

You are welcome.
And thanks for getting back to us. Now when others search for a similar problem they will see what actually worked instead of just suggestions about what could be the cause. |
