I have an issue with water freezing from the back of the Maytag refrigerator/freezer to the ice maker in that water shoot/tube. I would simply pull the tube out and clear the ice from it and reinstall. It would happen only once in a while, but now it has become a weekly nuisance. Sometimes I would have to pull out the ice maker and clear the ice buildup too in the water entry part.

Do I need to replace my whole ice maker, water inlet valve or something else?

Here are your parts
Parts for Maytag MZD2665HEW Refrigerator - AppliancePartsPros.com

First I would check the freezer temperature perhaps it is just too cold.
It should be between 0 and 5 degrees F.

Next most likely culprit is the water valve.
It could be that it is not closing properly so after it is supposed to close you get a couple extra drops. These freeze in the tube and eventually build up till the tube plugs.

You are welcome.

And thanks for getting back to us. Now when others search for a similar problem they will see what actually worked instead of just suggestions about what could be the cause.
