Hello,
Side-by-side water dispenser not working. Ice maker ok. No sound or water coming when dispenser is pressed. Is the problem on the back or the front of the fridge. Part replacement and instructions apreciated.
Thanks!

Thanks Woodchuckie!
Just order the micro switch. Be here in a couple of days. Will have to remove face plate. Read a couple of post on how to do this. It seems I have to pry it from the bottom thruogh the two notches I see. Is this the right way?. I tried but it seems difficult and don't want to break it. Any tips on how to remove the front cover?
Thanks again!

Lake Worth,
Sounds like my problem. (see starlifter post of today 5/11). Did the switch solve your problem? How did you get the face off?
Thanks,
Mike P.

Yes that's the way. Remove the dispenser cover by gently prying going round and round a little at a time to prevent from breaking it. When it's off the screws will be exposed to access the other components

Starlifter, The problem was not the switch. The plastic pins/tabs that hold the switch to the bracket broke off. So the lever could not activate the switch. I order the bracket (part # AP2988571 if you have the same model fridge) and replace it. I also installed the new switch since i had the hole thing taken apart. Problem solved. There are two slots on the bottom of the face plate. Stick a knife into the slots and pry it loose then lift the face plate. There are two tabs on the top of the face plate that slide into the molding on the door.

Thanks. My problem in intermittent so maybe the plastic bracket isn't completely broken. To a lesser extent, I have a problem with the ice dispenser. Occasionally I'll press the lever and hear nothing. I guess I'll just have to rip its little face off!

I have the same problem wiht KSSS48QHX00 KitchenAid fridge. Took all day to figure out that I have to just pull hard on the front panel - no screwdriver slots in my model. When I did, some things fell out - I assumed I broke it but in fact it was one thin holding bar on the plastic bracket. The 2 pins also fell out, along with the translucent z shaped holder that keeps the micro-switch in place. This is a poorly designed part - very weak way to hold the switch in place and obviously a thirsty push of the water dispenser broke all 3 parts. So I will be ordering this part as well.

My problem turned out to be a old and weak solenoid for the water dispenser. Ordered a new one through this site at a great price and solved my problems. I love this place when I need help. Thanks to all for being here!
Merry Christmas!
