clunking noise below agitator at end of spin cycles

At the end of cycles water drains...tub and agitator spin simultaneously. When coming to a stop the clutch releases and tub spins freely and agitator stops then clunking/banging starts. It is in time with the speed of the tub. Stops when tub stops spinning. Ideas?

Check the Sticky on Direct Drive Brakes at the top of the washer page. It sounds like your brakes are not engaging.
