The unit was serviced before by a GE tech, and he may have forced the agitator onto the coupling. The important thing that you have cleared up for me is the fact that it is not fastened from the bottom. Worst case is that I have to cut the agitator to remove it. I must get it out in order to pursue noise in the high spin mode. The help you have offered is very much appreciated! With best regards, Dave Storck drstorck@verizon.net
