My nearly new electric dryer is stopping halfway through the cycle and popping open the door like the clothes are done but they are damp. I have cleared all the vents and the fan of lint (there was very little) and was still having the issue. I tested both thermostats in the drum and they both work I have also tested the thermostat by the lint trap which also works. Both thermisters are showing 90ohms at room temp and decrease when heated. I have no idea what the problem is, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Here are your parts.
Parts for GE GFDN240EL1WW / - AppliancePartsPros.com

Could be that the door is not latching correctly/tight enough.
The clothes then pop the door open stopping the unit.

Check the door strike (item 3049 in section 02) and the door latch (item 327 in section 03).

Thanks for the reply, the door defenatly feels like it comes open easier than it should. I wonder if one of my kids was hanging on it. Also I ran the codes and got error code 11 dryer motor or centrafugal sensor error. Would that be causing the problem, the dryer does not over heat.

I do not have access to GHE tech data so I cannot say what that error actually means.

Run a cycle with no clothes in the unit to see if it runs OK.

If it runs OK then I would prop something against the door so it cannot open and run a cycle with clothes in it.
If that also runs OK then I would say that the latch parts need replacing.

If the female part of the latch is OK sometimes you can bend the male part out a bit (make it wider where the latch catches) with needle nose pliers.
