Have had problem with slow water dispenser in GE Profile refrigeratorfor two years. SOLUTION IS TO INSERT A THIN PLASTIC OR BRASS WASHER. The washermust have a hole large enough go over the center post / plug with the two Orings but not so large it interferes with the seating of the filter. The objectiveis to fully depress the little black valve piece. The little ramps on the newfilters do not fully engage the valve and thus the water trickles out. Volumeincreased from one cup per 20 seconds to 1 cup per 10 seconds, double the flow.Washer 1 mm thick will do the trick (about a dime thickness). I used a thinbrass washer which barely fit the center post, had to remove O rings to get iton. The outer diameter of the washer was just enough to touch the little blackvalve nub. If this works for you pleaserepost and pass the word.

I see exactly what you are talking about. Thanks for the information. However after removing the GE filter MWF and reinstalling I now have at least double the flow. I've done that several times in the past to no avail and do not have a clue as to why today it worked. Maybe the small black valve was sticking a little, not sure. If this doesn't continue to work I will try your method and post back a reply.

I'm thinking that maybe just spraying some cleaner (non-toxic) on that little valve might help if the problem shows back up again, but that's a total guess.

Again, thanks so much! Hope my flow continues!

I had the same problem, kept thinking I was getting bad filters. Finally saw the black poppet valve and just yanked it out. Then no flow because the actual valve was inset a little. A 1/8 inch drill took care of that and water runs great. Watch out drilling as everything is made of plastic. And now I have to shut off my water supply to change the filter, and that means cleaning the floor under the fridge when I pull the fridge out. Oh well...

Thanks for the info. My little black poppet valve is still sticking and I discovered if I twist the filter off and on a few times it will run for weeks sometimes until it sticks again and then I repeat the off/on/off/on with the filter. I see I can order new parts for $78 but for now I just do above. I might try the non-toxic lubricant, maybe olive oil and see if that helps.

So, for a couple of years I've been battling the water dispenser in my GE refrigerator. When it starts running slow I partly remove and snap back into place the filter case inside the refrigerator and the water pressure returns to full flow. Sometimes for a day but mostly for a couple of hours and then it slows to a trickle again.

Finally a solution I found out by experimentation. I knew it had something to do with that little black switch on the filter case that is depressed when the filter is installed. I took a regular pointed steak knife and GENTLY slid it up and down on both sides of the switch.. just a little.

Water pressure/flow has been perfect for weeks!!!!
