Hi folks. The high power burner stopped working. I first replaced the switch, nothing. Next the burner itself, still nothing. The range is in great condition so when I open everything up, it all looks clean and organized. I checked continuity on every wire from the burner itself to wherever they ended, and all wires have continuity.
Any ideas at this point? Oh yeah, I have fuses for my house electric, and I replaced the two fuses for the range, just to cover that base. Didn't help. Power at the outlet to the range does in fact get the full 240v. Verified that too.
A year of good karma to the person who can solve this mystery!

When you say to unplug and find where the open circuit is, you mean unplug the range itself and check each wire for continuity? Sorry for the lack of understanding. Like I said, I have basic electrical knowledge, more than the average guy, but not a lot more.

Not a problem.
Yes unplug the unit. This is the safest way to find your problem.
Then attach one meter lead to one end of the circuit you want to check and leave it there. Then work your way back along the circuit till you find the open. |
