Bought Dec.16,2013. 1 1/2 weeks ago. Bought at sears off display floor, brand new. Brought home next day and installed. While installing, water was heard sloshing around inside washer. Is this normal for a brand new wash machine? Sears says it's from the factory, left there after they tested it. I find this hard to believe and think they sold me a used machine. Also, the owners manual packet had been torn open. Also, the zip tie that holds the drain in place looked used. Opinions?

You were probably hearing fluid in the tub balance ring which is normal. What is the serial number of the washer? With that, I can give date of manufacture.

Looks like August of 2012. Serial numbers usually start with two letters though.
