I'm not sure, with the tub assembly rocking back and forth while in agitate mode, it could be continually tightening/loosening the nut which may be the cause of the noise. You'll find out once you tighten that nut. Eric

The past 2 weeks I haven't heard the big ka chunk noise. Also, the tub does not turn by hand as easily as before. I can still turn it, but there is a lot of resistance. Thanks for the suggestions. I can probably get some more life out of the washer/dryer. bdog
