Rank: Member Groups: Registered Joined: 11/25/2013(UTC) Posts: 2		I have a Whirlpool ED5PHEXRQ00 that is going on 10 yearsold. When the unit is in a cooling cycle (running) the outside front-facing surfaceof the cabinet on the freezer side is HOT (130 degrees). This is where thefreezer door seals against the cabinet. When the unit is not running there isno heat. I hate to think I have never noticed this before. As far as I can tellthe unit functions normally (no frost build-up, no excessive running). I canfind no reference to this in the users manual or any parts diagram showingheater strips along these edges. Is this heating normal?

If you remove that panel from the compressor area, you will likely find it is not moving. If there is nothing stuck in the blades, the motor will likely need to be replaced. You can test it to see if it is getting voltage, if you have a meter. The motor kit is available below if you find it necessary to replace. After several minutes the hot surfaces in front started to cool. When the cooling cycle finishes I'm going to give the underside a thorough cleening then monitor it for awhile. Never seen this before so wasn't sure if it was a real problem or me not paying attention. Thanks
