My 7 yearold Maytag fridge makes a grinding noise when trying to start. I replaced the capacitor and the starter relay but it makes the same sound. If i let it cool for several hours then it will start fine and run (and slowly cool) for 5 or 6 hours until the temp is cold. When it trys to start again it makes the grinding noise for 10 seconds and shuts off. It will continue this grinding shut off cycle until i unplug the fridge and let it cool for several hours and then when I plug it in it starts and slowly cools until the temp is again low enough and it cycles off. Could I have a somewhat pluged orifice tube that is creating enough back pressure that the compressor motor can't start unless the compressor sits idle for several hours?

You have a hard starting compressor when it gets warm, amprobe would confirm.

You have no symptoms of a clogged capillary tube, just a compressor drawing excessive current.
