Our washer is not working at all right now, after a few weeks of sometimes working and other times not working. Since my husband is an electrician we know it is not an electrical problem, although sometimes when you press power it does nothing. At other times when you press power the start button and minutes button flash but machine does not start. We never see an error code - the machine is just over 3 years old. The lid does lock but then unlocks, and then sometimes locks again. I wonder if we should start by replacing the lid lock but he thinks it might be a control panel. Please help. Thanks

Tilt machine back to retrieve the tech manual from inside the front panel. It will tell you how to get into service mode to check for fault codes and run various tests to try and figure out what's wrong. Sounds like it may be a control board problem. Try reseating all control board wiring connectors as well as connectors at bottom of washer for motor, pump, shift actuator and capacitor. Loose connections and broken wires are very common in these washers. Broken wires are common at wire tie-down points.

Eric Why can't I find a control board listed in the parts listing for this model Whirlpool Washer?
